Wani and his Vision

"Since The Republic of South Sudan became independent in 2011, the country faces its 'zero hour'. Despite of the challenging situation on the spot, it is particularly the young South Sudanese who are optimistic to guide their lives into a better future. Within the framework of the project 'Juba Youth – Films from a newborn country' five South Sudanese filmmakers present local adolescents and their way of living in fictional and documentary short films. WANI AND HIS VISION is one of these films.

Many young South Sudanese work as Boda-Boda (motorcycle) drivers, as other jobs are not available. Wani is one of them driving customers from place to place. He however, aims for more and slowly works his way to achieve his dream.

„South Sudanese have got a rich culture of telling stories. But we hardly tell them through film. I hope WANI AND HIS VISION will lead the way to broaden our usual oral conversations to something new, to fictional movies and documentaries.“
